Solana trading glossary
What is a contract address (CA) on Solana?
Also called: CA, Mint address, Token address
The unique on-chain address of a token. On Solana it is the token's mint address, and it is the only reliable way to identify a token.
Traders say "CA" out of habit from Ethereum, where tokens are smart contracts. On Solana a token is a mint account, so its CA is the mint address: a string of 32 to 44 letters and numbers such as DezXAZ8z7PnrnRJjz3wXBoRgixCa6xjnB7YaB1pPB263 for BONK.
Names and tickers are not unique. Anyone can create a token called BONK or USDC with the same logo. The mint address is the only thing that cannot be copied.
Why it matters before you trade
Most copycat token losses come from buying by name. Get the CA from the project's own channels or a source you trust, paste it rather than typing a ticker, and check that the first and last characters match before you sign.
How NAVI shows it
Every NAVI search box takes a contract address or a ticker. A pasted address goes straight to that token. A ticker that several tokens use opens a list showing each one with its address, so you can pick the right one. The same box sits on the rug check, bubble map and token analytics pages.
Related terms
- Copycat tokenA token that reuses the name, ticker or logo of a better-known token so buyers mistake it for the real one.
- Mutable metadataA token whose name, symbol, image or links can still be changed, because the metadata's update authority has not been removed.
- Rug pullWhen the people behind a token remove its value, by pulling liquidity, printing supply or dumping a large hidden stake, and leave holders unable to sell at a fair price.
