NAVI vs RugCheck

Last updated: 2026-09-25

RugCheck is the dedicated Solana token risk report, and NAVI reads it. NAVI adds a market risk score, holder bubble maps, alerts and swaps around the same checks.

An honest comparison, as of September 2026. NAVI uses RugCheck's report as one of its data sources, so this is less a rivalry than a question of which screen you want to read it on.

The short answer

RugCheck is a dedicated token risk scanner for Solana (and the Fogo chain). Paste a mint address and you get a detailed report: a risk score, a list of named risks, mint and freeze authority, liquidity locks per market, lockers, top holders with insiders marked, the creator's other tokens and a graph of insider networks. It is free to read, it has a public API, and Solana's own documentation lists it as one of the verification providers Solana Explorer draws on.

NAVI is a Solana token research app. Its rug check reads the token's RugCheck report for the contract checks, then puts them next to things RugCheck does not do: NAVI's own risk score built from price history, a holder bubble map, alerts when a token's risk rises, an AI summary and a swap panel. If you only want the most detailed contract report, use RugCheck. If you want the checks explained in one place with what happens next, NAVI is built for that.

Where NAVI's rug check gets its data

To be plain about it: mint authority, freeze authority, the liquidity lock status of each pool, the top-holder list and the named risks on NAVI's token pages all come from the token's RugCheck report. NAVI leaves liquidity pools, order books and lockers out of the holder share, adds pool liquidity and the token's age from its trading pools, and turns the result into six checks with a pass, warning or fail and a plain explanation of each.

NAVI's risk score is separate and does not use RugCheck at all. It is a score out of 100 from NAVI's own hourly price history: seven-day volatility, distance from the seven-day high, market cap and how long NAVI has tracked the token. That is why a token can pass every contract check and still be rated High risk on NAVI, or the other way round. The rug check page explains both.

Where RugCheck is stronger

Depth on the contract and the launch. RugCheck's report includes things NAVI does not show: the insider networks it detects and an interactive graph of them, which holders are flagged as insiders, the creator's balance and other tokens, the lockers holding LP, and Token-2022 details such as extensions and transfer fees. NAVI shows these only when RugCheck lists them as a named risk.

An API. RugCheck publishes its API with a free tier (3 requests a second, cached single reports) and paid plans at $40, $100 and $500 a month for higher limits, fresh reports and websockets, as of September 2026. NAVI has no public API. RugCheck also runs a paid verification programme (a verified badge costs 150 USDC) that lets a token's team add links and a signed message, and it lists integrations with many Solana DEXs, lockers and launchpads.

Neutrality. RugCheck says it has no token of its own and that no single token's score can be adjusted by hand. NAVI earns a fee on swaps made through it, which is worth knowing when you read any tool that also lets you trade.

Where NAVI is stronger

Context around the checks. On a NAVI token page the rug check sits next to the price chart, liquidity, the risk level and its history, and a one-line AI read. The bubble map shows whether the largest wallets are linked by transfers or a shared funding wallet, and marks groups of seven or more as bundled.

Watching a token after you check it. With a free account you can set price alerts and get told in the app, by browser notification or on Telegram when NAVI raises a token you watch to High risk. RugCheck is a report you come back to; it does not alert you.

Acting on it. NAVI has a swap panel on each token's market page, routed through Jupiter. High-risk tokens on NAVI can only be swapped against SOL or USDC.

Which one to use

Use RugCheck when you want every detail of a token's contract, launch and insider network, or when you are building something and need an API.

Use NAVI when you want the contract checks explained alongside market risk and holder clusters, want an alert if things get worse, or want to trade from the same page. Many traders will reasonably use both: RugCheck to dig, NAVI to watch.

Pros

  • NAVI: contract checks, a market risk score and a holder bubble map on one page
  • NAVI: alerts when a token you watch rises to High risk
  • NAVI: swap from the same page, with high-risk tokens limited to SOL and USDC pairs
  • RugCheck: the most detailed free Solana contract and insider report
  • RugCheck: public API with a free tier, used widely across Solana

Cons

  • NAVI: depends on RugCheck for its contract checks, and shows less insider and launch detail
  • NAVI: no public API, Solana only
  • RugCheck: no alerts, no market-based risk view and no trading

Who it's for

  • RugCheck: anyone who wants the full contract and insider report, and developers who need an API
  • NAVI: traders who want the checks explained, a holder map and an alert if the risk rises
  • Both: dig into a new token on RugCheck, then watch it on NAVI

Frequently asked questions

Does NAVI use RugCheck?
Yes. The contract checks on NAVI's token pages (mint and freeze authority, liquidity locks, top holders and named risks) come from the token's RugCheck report. NAVI's risk score is separate and is built from its own price history.
Is NAVI or RugCheck more accurate?
For contract facts they read the same data, so they should agree. They differ in what they add: RugCheck adds insider networks and creator history, NAVI adds a market risk score, a holder bubble map and alerts. Neither can tell you whether a team will walk away.
Is RugCheck free?
Reading reports on rugcheck.xyz is free and needs no account. Its API has a free tier with cached single reports; paid plans started at $40 a month as of September 2026.
Why does NAVI say High risk when RugCheck looks fine?
Because they measure different things. NAVI's risk level reflects how the token's price has behaved (volatility, drawdown, market cap and age). A token with a clean contract can still be very volatile. The rug check page explains how the score works.
