The short answer
Robinhood Chain gas fees are paid in ETH and are very low. In a sample of 13 swaps NAVI measured on 30 September 2026, the median cost was about 0.0000039 ETH, roughly one US cent. On a memecoin trade, gas is usually the smallest cost: the 1% Pons bonding curve fee, a creator tax of up to 10% and any trading tool fee matter far more.
So check the fee and tax on the token before you worry about gas.
How Robinhood Chain gas works
The Robinhood Chain gas token is ETH. There is no separate native coin to buy. According to Robinhood's gas and fees docs, every transaction pays two components, bundled into the single gas fee your wallet shows:
- L2 execution fee: gas used times the L2 gas price. Robinhood describes it as "typically very low and stable".
- L1 data fee: the cost of posting your transaction's data to Ethereum. It varies with Ethereum congestion and with how much calldata your transaction carries.
That second part is the link between Robinhood Chain vs Ethereum fees. Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 built on Arbitrum Orbit, so it pays Ethereum for data but runs execution itself. When Ethereum gets busy, Robinhood Chain fees can rise too, though from a very low base. A complex transaction that carries more data costs more than a simple transfer.
What NAVI measured on 30 September 2026
We sampled real swaps on the chain to get a number rather than a range from a docs page.
- Base fee: about 0.022 gwei.
- Sample: 13 swaps through the Uniswap Universal Router.
- Gas used: median about 173,000.
- Cost: median about 0.0000039 ETH, roughly one US cent at an ETH price of about $2,670.
- Range: about $0.007 to about $0.06.
- Speed: blocks average about 0.1 seconds, according to Blockscout's stats.
Thirteen swaps on one day is a small sample. Treat it as a snapshot, not a guarantee. A busy day on Ethereum, or a heavier transaction, will cost more.
One change to note: a 90-day gas subsidy that covered Robinhood Wallet transactions reportedly ended around 29 September, according to press reports including crypto.news. Robinhood has not published a statement we could find. Third-party wallets such as MetaMask and Phantom always paid gas.
The full cost stack of a memecoin trade
Gas is one line out of several. A buy on Robinhood Chain can include:
- Gas: about one cent in our sample, paid in ETH.
- Pons bonding curve fee: 1% per trade while a token is still on its Pons curve (on-chain feeBps = 100 on the Pons V2 factory).
- Creator tax: Pons V2 lets a creator set an optional tax, with a maximum of 10% (maxCreatorTaxBps = 1000). A token can have no tax at all or the full 10%, so check each one.
- Anti-bot tax at launch: Pons V2 applies a 99% snipe tax at launch. Creators can exempt a list of wallets, which is how bundled launches get around it. Buying in the first moments of a launch can cost you almost everything.
- Pool fee after graduation: once a token reaches 4.2 ETH, liquidity moves into a Uniswap v4 pool with the Pons hook. Press reports say the 1% fee continues after graduation. Other Uniswap pools charge their own fee tier.
- Tool fee: trading through a terminal adds its fee. GMGN, for example, charges 1% of the trade plus network gas, according to GMGN's fee docs.
- Price impact and slippage: not a fee, but on thin pools it can cost more than everything above combined.
NAVI's Robinhood Chain swap fee is 0.25% (lower on Pro), shown in the quote before you sign.
For how the Pons fee is split between creator and protocol, see pump.fun vs Pons creator fees.
Worked example: a $100 buy on a Pons curve
Take a $100 buy on a token still on its Pons curve, placed directly, with no tool fee:
- Gas: about $0.01
- Curve fee (1%): $1.00
- Creator tax: $0 if the token has none, up to $10.00 at the 10% maximum
- Total: about $1.01 with no tax, about $11.01 at the maximum
Selling later pays gas and the curve or pool fee again. Through a terminal that charges 1%, add another $1.00 each way.
The gap between $1.01 and $11.01 has nothing to do with gas. It comes down to one setting the creator chose. That is why a buy-and-sell simulation that measures the real tax before you trade is worth more than a gas estimate.
Compared with a pump.fun trade on Solana
pump.fun's public docs on GitHub put its bonding curve fee at 1.25%: 0.30% to the creator and 0.95% to the protocol. Solana charges a base fee of 5,000 lamports per signature, but memecoin traders add priority fees to land faster. GMGN's docs suggest a total on-chain fee of 0.002 to 0.005 SOL for trades with no speed requirement.
The same $100 buy on a pump.fun curve, with SOL at about $118 on 30 September 2026:
- Curve fee (1.25%): $1.25
- Network and priority fees: about $0.24 to $0.59
- Total: about $1.49 to $1.84, before any tool fee
Two differences stand out. On these numbers, Robinhood Chain gas costs less than the Solana fee range GMGN suggests, but pump.fun has no creator tax on top of its curve fee. After migration to PumpSwap, pump.fun's fee drops in tiers as market cap grows, from 1.25% under about $85K to 0.30% above about $20M. pump.fun can change these tiers.

Do not forget bridging costs
Most traders arrive from another chain, so the first trade carries a bridge fee. Relay's fee docs list a $0.02 flat fee plus a destination gas estimate, and a platform fee of 0.00% for token bridging (higher for swaps). Other routes are listed in Robinhood's bridging docs. The canonical bridge back to Ethereum takes about 7 days.
NAVI's bridge runs on Relay. In a test quote on 30 September 2026, 0.1 SOL to ETH carried a NAVI fee of 0.00025 SOL and a relayer fee of about 0.0005 SOL, and returned about 0.00439 ETH. Bridge from Solana to Robinhood Chain.
How to keep trading costs down
- Check the creator tax first. It can be ten times the curve fee.
- Skip the first seconds of a launch. The 99% anti-bot tax hits wallets that are not on the creator's exemption list.
- Size for liquidity. On thin pools, price impact outweighs every fee.
- Keep a little ETH. You need it to sell.
- Compare tool fees. A 1% terminal fee on every buy and sell adds up faster than gas.

Trading on NAVI is not available in every region. Pons curve trading is not offered to users in the United Kingdom, Stock Tokens are information only on NAVI, and you should never use a VPN to get around a regional block.
Not financial advice. Most launches go to zero. Only trade what you can afford to lose.
