Robinhood Chain token checker: spot honeypots, sell taxes and rug risks

A Robinhood Chain token checker tests whether you can sell a token, what tax it charges and who still controls the contract. Here is what each check means, how NAVI's buy-and-sell simulation works and how to read a Low, Medium or High result.

What a Robinhood Chain token checker does

A Robinhood Chain token checker reads a token's contract and tests it before you trade. The core questions: can you sell it, what tax does it take on a buy or sell, who can still change the contract, and how concentrated is the supply. On NAVI, you paste the token's 0x address into the Robinhood Chain token scanner and get a Low, Medium or High risk result.

No checker can call a token safe. It can tell you what the contract does right now, from one point of view.

Why checking matters on Robinhood Chain

Robinhood Chain grew fast. Daily DEX volume went from just over $200,000 on 1 July to more than $500M by 10 July, according to Fortune. DefiLlama put 24-hour DEX volume at about $1.64B on 30 September. Scammers followed the volume.

Honeypots, copycat tickers, phishing links and wallet drainers were widely reported in the chain's first weeks. Analyst Wazz (@WazzCrypto) then linked 53 launches to one group that took at least $18.43M, using wallet bundles and decoy tokens (CryptoTimes). GoPlus flagged a separate token "factory" with over $9.49M in 30-day volume (CryptoSlate). Our rug ring breakdown covers both.

Robinhood Chain honeypots and sell taxes explained

A honeypot is a token you can buy but cannot sell. The buy goes through, the chart looks healthy, and every sell fails or returns almost nothing. The contract usually blocks sells for everyone except a few addresses.

A sell tax is the softer version. The contract takes a percentage of every sale. A small tax may be a stated feature. A very large one works like a honeypot with extra steps: you can sell, but you keep little.

Taxes are not always hidden. Pons V2 itself allows an optional creator tax of up to 10%, and applies a 99% anti-bot tax at launch to wallets that are not on an exemption list. The question a checker answers is what tax a normal wallet pays right now.

Owner privileges and upgradeable proxies

Many tokens have an owner address with special rights. The ones that matter to a buyer:

  • Mint: create new tokens and dilute everyone.
  • Blacklist: stop chosen wallets from selling.
  • Pause: freeze transfers.
  • Change fees: raise the tax after you buy.

If ownership is renounced, those rights are gone. If not, the owner can use them at any time.

An upgradeable proxy is a different risk. The token address stays the same, but the code behind it can be swapped. A clean contract today can become a honeypot tomorrow. NAVI detects upgradeable proxies and treats them as a risk factor.

How NAVI's buy-and-sell simulation works

NAVI does not just read the code. It simulates a buy and then a sell of the token before you trade anything.

The simulation answers two things:

  • Can it be sold? If the sell fails, the token is flagged as one you cannot sell.
  • What is the tax? NAVI measures the buy tax and the sell tax a normal wallet would pay.

Two hard rules follow. A blocked sell forces a High risk result. A tax of 25% or more also forces High, whatever else the token looks like.

The same honeypot gate runs before a swap on NAVI, and before a bridge from Solana into a Robinhood Chain memecoin.

Liquidity locks, holders and Pons bonding status

The scanner also checks:

  • Liquidity locks, including Pons-graduated Uniswap v4 pools, where the LP position is held by the Pons launch locker.
  • Holder concentration: top-10 share and the largest single wallet, excluding pools, burns, lockers and the Pons curve itself.
  • Pons bonding status: progress towards the 4.2 ETH graduation threshold on an ETH-quoted curve, or the pool the token graduated into.

Graduation is rare and fast. In NAVI's count of Pons V2 activity from 23 to 30 September, 51,046 tokens launched and 567 graduated (about 1.1%). Of those that did both inside the window, the median time to graduate was about 11 minutes. See Pons launchpad explained for how the curve works.

Reading Low, Medium, High and unverified

The result is a risk level, never a "safe" label:

  • Low: the checks that ran found nothing serious.
  • Medium: something needs a closer look, or too little could be verified.
  • High: a serious problem, including any blocked sell or a tax of 25% or more.

Some checks cannot always run. A check that could not complete shows as unverified, not as a pass. If three or more core checks are unverifiable, the token is rated at least Medium and gets an Unknown data badge. Missing information counts against a token, not for it.

NAVI also flags look-alike tokens that copy a Stock Token's name. Stock Tokens themselves are information only on NAVI: NAVI never trades them or routes a swap through one, and Pons curves priced in a Stock Token are not traded on NAVI.

Limits of any Robinhood Chain rug check

A good result is a snapshot. Know what it cannot do:

  • The simulation runs from one wallet at one block. A contract can treat other wallets differently.
  • An owner, or an upgradeable proxy, can change the rules after the check.
  • Holder checks cannot yet link many small wallets to one owner. NAVI has no Robinhood Chain bubble maps, wallet tracking or alerts yet.
  • No scanner can tell you whether you have the right contract. Match the address from the project's own channel.

Re-check before you add to a position, and read the memecoin risk checklist.

Check a Robinhood Chain token on NAVI

Step 1: copy the token's 0x address from a source you trust.

Step 2: paste it into the Robinhood Chain honeypot checker or the token scanner and read each check, not only the headline level.

Step 3: if you trade, swap from the token page. Swaps route through KyberSwap, or against the Pons curve (labelled "Bonding") before graduation. NAVI's swap fee is 0.25% (lower on Pro) and is shown before you sign. Connect with Phantom, Rabby, MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or a WalletConnect mobile wallet. Need ETH first? Bridge from Solana. NAVI is independent and not affiliated with Robinhood. It is non-custodial: your wallet signs every transaction. Trading is not available in every region, and Pons is unavailable in the UK; never use a VPN to get around a block.

Also on NAVI: token analytics for charts, pools and holders, the Robinhood Chain trending list with a risk level beside each token, the new Pons launches list for fresh curves and Robinhood Chain swap for trades with the cost shown up front.

Not financial advice. Most launches go to zero. Only trade what you can afford to lose.

FAQ

How do I check if a Robinhood Chain token is a honeypot?

Paste the token's contract address into a token checker that simulates a sell, such as NAVI's Robinhood Chain scanner. If the simulated sell fails, the token is flagged and rated High risk. You can also buy a very small amount and try selling it, though that costs gas and fees.

What sell tax is too high?

Any tax you did not expect is a warning. NAVI treats a buy or sell tax of 25% or more as High risk automatically. Pons V2 allows an optional creator tax of up to 10%, so a small stated tax can be legitimate, but it still comes out of every trade you make.

What does unverified mean on NAVI?

It means a check could not run, so NAVI cannot say whether that risk is present. It is not a pass. If three or more core checks are unverifiable, NAVI rates the token at least Medium and shows an Unknown data badge.

Does a Low risk result mean a token is safe?

No. NAVI never labels a token safe. A Low result means the checks that ran found nothing serious at that block from one wallet. An owner or an upgradeable proxy can change the contract later, and no scanner can confirm you have the right contract address.

Can NAVI detect bundled wallets on Robinhood Chain?

Partly. NAVI measures top-10 holder share and the largest wallet, which shows a bundle still holding a big share. It cannot yet link many small wallets to one owner, because Robinhood Chain bubble maps have not shipped.

Is NAVI's token checker made by Robinhood?

No. NAVI is an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Robinhood, Pons or pump.fun. It is non-custodial, so your own wallet signs every transaction.
